Meet the Rhinology Faculty
Yusuf M. Gulleth, MD, MPH, FSCS, FAAOA
Dr. Gulleth is the Chief of Otolaryngology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at Boston University School of Medicine. He is a native of Tanzania and graduated from the University of Connecticut Health Center. He completed his residency training in Otorhinolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He is board certified in Otolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery. His areas of special interest are: allergic disease of the ear, nose and throat; chronic sinus disease; adenoid and tonsil disorders; disorders of nasal breathing; and obstructive sleep apnea.
Rohan C. Wijewickrama, MD
Dr. Wijewickrama is Co-director of the Rhinology Fellowship and Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at Tufts University School of Medicine. He is a native of North Carolina and graduated from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training in Otolaryngology at State University of New York (SUNY)-Buffalo and fellowship training in Rhinology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center/Tufts. He has served as the Co-director of the Rhinology Fellowship since 2013 and serves on the Graduate Medical Education Committee at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.
Manuel Bautista, MD, FCCP
Manuel Bautista, MD is board certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Bautista received his Medical Degree in 1993 from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC) in the Dominican Republic. He did his residency at Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City, NJ, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine in 2003 at Allegheny General Hospital and a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine in 2004 at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Bautista has been faculty in our Internal Medicine program for 11 years. In addition to our clinic practice, Dr. Bautista is also the current director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Sleep Lab at Northside Medical Center. When not working, he spends time with his 3 children and their activities, while also enjoying softball, biking and tennis and kayaking.
Ritha Kartan, MD, FCCP
Dr. Kartan attended Medical School at Nagarjuna University Siddharta/Guntur Medical College in Andhra Pradesh, India. She did her Internal Medicine Residency at Cooper Hospital University Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey, followed by fellowships in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. She is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine. She is currently a staff physician at Trumbull Regional Medical Center and has been faculty in our Internal Medicine Program for 17 years. In addition, she is Associate Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical College. Dr. Kartan is very involved in community activities.
