Dr. Munir Shah, MD, FACP, FIDSA

Dr. Munir Shah serves as the new Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency and he will bring decades of clinical experience, academic leadership, and a longstanding commitment to education. A graduate of the Internal Medicine Program at Western Reserve Care System, Dr. Shah brings a unique perspective and a deep connection to the community he has served since 1995.

After residency, Dr. Shah completed his Infectious Disease fellowship at the University of Toledo, developing specialized expertise that continues to enrich both his clinical practice and teaching. Since joining Northeast Ohio Infectious Disease Associates in 2007, Dr. Shah has worked closely with the community in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease, Dr. Shah is especially passionate about antibiotic stewardship and the management of multidrug-resistant organisms. His teaching will emphasize practical, evidence-based decision-making and will equip residents with the skills needed to manage complex patient populations with confidence.

Dr. Shah will play a vital leadership role within the residency program. In his current position as Associate Program Director, he will be deeply involved in curriculum development, mentorship, and day-to-day resident education—ensuring a supportive, hands-on learning environment.

In addition to his clinical and educational roles, Dr. Shah is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Blue Foundation at NEOMED. His leadership reflects a strong commitment to advancing both medical education and community health.
